The Winter Tech Workshop is our club’s premier educational event, designed to turn every member into a confident mechanic for their own A-body Chevrolet. Held inside our private shop facility, this hands-on session focuses on the "black art" of carburetor tuning, ensuring your Chevelle or El Camino is ready for the spring cruising season. It is more than just a lecture; it is a collaborative environment where veteran restorers pass down decades of knowledge to the next generation of enthusiasts.
This year’s workshop features live demonstrations on a variety of Holley and Quadrajet setups, specifically addressing the air-fuel requirements of big-block and small-block engines in the Southern California climate. Members will learn how to use vacuum gauges to dial in idle mixtures, how to swap jets for altitude changes, and how to eliminate the dreaded "off-the-line bog" by adjusting accelerator pump cams. Whether you are running a factory-stock setup or a high-performance double-pumper, you will leave with a clearer understanding of your engine's vitals.
The session concludes with an open-garage period where members can bring their own vehicles up to the service bays for a quick diagnostic check. Our tech leads will be on hand to provide specialized tool access, including wideband O2 sensors and timing lights, helping you find those hidden horsepower gains. This shared passion for technical excellence and mutual support is what makes our community the most knowledgeable muscle car club in the region.
